During the time of Emperor Napoleon III’s rule, the leader of France established the prestigious 1855 classification of the Premier Cru Chateaus of Bordeaux. A well-kept secret among Bordeaux winemakers was that in lighter vintages of Cabernet Sauvignon, winemakers would secretly source Syrah from the Rhône Valley to help darken and intensify their traditional blends.
This blend is composed of the five primary red varietals from Bordeaux: Petite Verdot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Merlot, and of course, the “secret” Syrah from the McKinney Family Estate. Napoleon’s Secret is revealed in this elegant, rich and seductive red wine.
